Hong Kong - The Oriental Pearl

Hong Kong (香港 meaning fragrant harbor) is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. (The other is Macau). Known as the Oriental Pearl, Hong Kong is incredibly popular among Singapore travelers for holidays due to the good food, short flight time and the multitude of cheap airfares. Two full-service airlines operate directly between Singapore and Hong Kong.

Singapore Airlines operates 49 flights/week.

Cathay Pacific operates 60 flights/week.

Flight Time

If you're coming from Singapore - Changi Airport, the flight will take about 4 hours to reach Hong Kong International Airport.

Getting Around and Where to Stay

The Hong Kong MTR is extremely convenient and will get you to virtually anywhere you need to go. You can get an Octopus card (which works like an EZ Link card) to travel on the MTR. Here is a link to the Hong Kong MTR (large size).

Taxis are plentiful and cheap (Tipping is not required or expected)

The electrical outlets in Hong Kong provide the standard 220V and use the same three-pin plug as Singapore

Currency Exchange

Currently, SGD 1 is about 6 HKD (Hong Kong Dollar)
