Singapore Public Holidays in 2028

2028 dates are estimates pending official MOM confirmation. See our dedicated 2028 page for the full estimated calendar and which dates are most likely to shift.

Singapore celebrates 11 public holidays each year. These holidays give workers and families a chance to observe important national, cultural, and religious occasions. The holidays are covered under Singapore’s Employment Act and are selected according to the official calendar each year. The Ministry of Manpower publishes the official holiday dates and manages public holiday rules for employees.

Public Holidays

Singapore usually has 11 public holidays each year, but the number can occasionally change because Islamic festivals follow a lunar calendar. Since the Islamic calendar is shorter than the Gregorian calendar, Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Haji can sometimes fall twice within the same calendar year, creating an extra public holiday.

Public Holiday Rights for Employees in Singapore

Employees in Singapore have specific rights when it comes to public holidays. Under the Employment Act, employers and employees may agree on a substitute holiday in some situations. Employees who are required to work on a public holiday may also be entitled to additional pay or another day off. Official public holiday dates and related employment rules are published by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower.
